There are a series of old Mills throughout El Valle de Lecrin going back to Moorish times 900 - 1492 of which this mill, Los Molinos, is one. It is possible there has been a mill on the site since those times although the present structure would appears to be 15th or 16th. century.
Los Molinos is actually two Mills one of which was used to make Olive Oil and the other flour.Originaly it would have been water driven but it was modernised in about 1900 to use steam. Some of the old machinery can be seen in the Orchard.
The Mills stopped being used in about 1940 and fell into disrepair which is how I fund them.
They are known to this day as El Molino d'Enrique, a handsome old man alas now dead, from whom I bought them in 1996 and then began the exciting task of restauration.
